Emma Raducanu is out - will Katie Boulter write the beautiful stories for the Brits this year at Wimbledon? It could be. With her 3: 6, 7: 6 (4), 6: 4 victory over Karolina Pliskova, the 25-year-old has put herself in a good starting position.

Boulter, already listed in the top 100 in 2019, but then injured for a long time, played really strong tennis for long stretches and especially at the end - the win was crazy enough her second over the Czech in the last few weeks. She had already won against Pliskova in Eastbourne and then narrowly lost to Petra Kvitova. Boulter had also previously reached the quarter-finals in Birmingham, where he defeated Caroline Garcia, among others.

"My grandmother died two days ago, I dedicate this victory to her," explained the emotional Boulter afterwards.

Boulter now against Williams conqueror Tan

For Boulter, things could go a little further in this form at the 2022 Wimbledon tournament: she now meets Serena Williams conqueror Harmony Tan, who won against Sara Sorribes Tormo.

Also through: Paula Badosa (6: 3, 6: 2 over Irina Bara), Petra Kvitova (6: 1, 7: 6 (5) against Ana Bogdan), Elena Rybakina (6: 4, 7: 6 (5) against Bianca Andreescu) and Barbora Krejcikova (6.3, 6:4 against Viktorija Golubic). And Boulter's compatriot Heather Watson, she won 7-5, 6-4 against Qiang Wang.
