Traditionally, Novak Djokovic, as the champion of the previous year, is allowed to play the first match on Center Court

From a British point of view, there really isn't much more to offer than the first matchday on Center Court: Traditionally, last year's men's winner can declare the Wimbledon Championships open in the largest stadium in the facility - so Novak Djokovic will know from 14:30 CEST to do with South Korean Soonwoo Kwon. There have not yet been many comparisons between the two protagonists in the annals of tennis history - the top seeded Serb leads 1-0 in any case.

After that Emma Raducanu, the only 19-year-old US Open champion of the previous year, can lead the home crowd to ecstasy - it will be difficult enough against the Belgian grab bag Alyson Van Uytvanck. The big highlight for the London audience, however, is likely to be the end of the center court lineup from day one: The two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray meets the Australian James Duckworth - a solvable task for Sir Andy and an important warm-up for a possible second round -Encounter with impact cannon John Isner.

Sinner demands old master Wawrinka

On Court 1, the second largest show court, the German Jan-Lennard Struff meets none other than the Spanish shooting star Carlos Alcaraz in the second game after 12:00 p.m. However, there is still a big question mark behind the love of grass of the fifth-seeded Iberian - if the Warsteiner wants to take advantage of this imponderability, then probably in this edition of the lawn classic.

One can also look forward to the first appearance of Jannik Sinner with excitement, the South Tyrolean fights in the third game after 12:00 p.m. on Court 2 with old master Stan Wawrinka for a place in the second round. The Swiss has already reached the quarter-finals of the lawn Grand Slam twice, which is definitely not the 37-year-old from Lausanne's favorite major event. In the first game at 12:00 p.m. on court 12, number three Casper Ruud will have to show against the Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas whether, from a sporting point of view, grass isn't just for golfing.
