Hardly anyone would have expected her before the tournament started, but in the end Elena Rybakina triumphed in the 2022 Wimbledon final. After a mixed start, she turned the match against the big favorite Ons Jabeur.

Jabeur got off to a better start, absorbing Rybakina's power well and repeatedly unpacking the fine blade - it was enough to win the set. /

The crowd was on Jabeur's side from the start, but when Rybakina made the early break in the second half, she got a big round of applause. It was a phase in which Jabeur increasingly twisted the forehand and acted too playfully, while Rybakina hit the ball well. In the first set she had produced 17 mistakes without needing to, in the second there were only 7, with 13 winners. The massive problems that Rybakina had when she wanted to play the "little little" with Jabeur were still irritating. Ultimately, it didn't matter - the hard serve, the flat groundstrokes, they were sitting now.

In the third set, Rybakina managed the first break again, but Jabeur now played "her" game a little more safely, without the really big snippets of the past few minutes, she was unlucky at 2:3 and 0:40 when a stop ended up just millimeters wide . Rybakina then held her serve, also because Jabeur warped properly.
