It is well known that Rafael Nadal is not a man for big sayings. The Mallorcan often enjoys practicing as an outsider - including before the Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon. "The favorites for the win are Djokovic and Federer. And there are young players who play well and you have to see how they compete," said the 33-year-old in an interview with Vamos de Movistar + .

Nadal, who won in the English capital in 2008 and 2010, has confidence in himself: "I am happy with the change (from sand to lawn, note) that I have made." The 18-time Grand Slam winner should be anything but happy with his draw.

After a feasible first round hurdle with Yuichi Sugita, Nadal could face Nick Kyrgios in the second round. After that, Denis Shapovalov or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga probably waits before Marin Cilic could face the man who beat him at an exhibition in two sets in the run-up to Wimbledon in the round of 16.

Before the draw, Nadal did not ascribe much importance to it: "A win at Wimbledon depends more on whether you play well." Due to the higher density on turf, there could be more surprises in the first rounds. "This makes this event unique. There is a bigger question mark," said the Spaniard, who only failed in the semi-final last year against Novak Djokovic.
