Nick Kyrgios returns to the tour at Wimbledon

February 12, 2021. John Cain Arena. Nick Kyrgios and Dominic Thiem are turning the whole of Melbourne into a madhouse. The two protagonists duel for three hours and 21 minutes before the Austrian silences the Australian audience and moves into the round of 16 despite a 2-0 set deficit.

Since this match, the successes for both Thiem and Kyrgios have been few and far between: While the Lichtenwörther slid into the first medium-sized crisis of his career, the man from Canberra only won the video game "Fortnite". In the past few months, Kyrgios showed relatively little interest in tennis.

His favorite tournament in Wimbledon apparently moved the 26-year-old to swap the video console for the tennis racket and return to the tour. Because as Kyrgios wrote on Twitter, the days in his homeland are numbered for him for the time being. The Australian's first travel destination? The All England Club in South West London.

Most recently, Kyrgios had neck problems, cancellations for the tournaments in Stuttgart, London's Queen's Club and Mallorca were the result. How about the shape of the world number 61. has been ordered, can therefore hardly be assessed. But it is also clear that the absolute top players in Wimbledon would not be too keen on an early duel with the unseeded Australian.
