If you are allowed to enter Center Court against the defending champion on the first day of a Wimbledon tournament, it is advisable to start with a break. This is exactly what Philipp Kohlschreiber did against Novak Djokovic. It's just stupid that the Serbian industry leader immediately struck back. And in the end, there was never really a risk of losing a single sentence. Djokovic finally won 6: 2, 7: 5 and 6: 3.

The two opponents had played against each other twelve times until the meeting on Monday in Wimbledon, only two of which Kohlschreiber had won. The German veteran played along excellently, varied spin and pace as usual. And initially showed great comeback qualities towards the end of the second round: In the ninth game, Kohlschreiber fought off a 0:40 as a server, but had to give up his service a few moments later to 5: 6. Djokovic acknowledged the break with an appropriate rutting cry.

Djokovic brought Ivanisevic

Kohlschreiber broke up with coach Tobias Summerer a few days ago, manager Stephan Fehske will again take over the sporting agendas until further notice. Djokovic, on the other hand, brought Goran Ivanisevic into his team rather spontaneously, the Croatian Wimbledon champion from 2001 talked animatedly with Djokovic's head coach Marian Vajda.

In the third set, Novak Djokovic had reason to roar in the seventh game: Kohlschreiber suspended a forehand volley, the four-time Wimbledon champion took a break with a 4: 3 lead. And no longer gave up this lead.
