In 2008, Federer and Nadal faced each other in the Wimbledon final.

This afternoon you will of course be back live on Sky when the most important title in men's tennis is awarded. Since 2006, the station from Unterföhring has been your contact when it comes to Wimbledon - and since 2017 also for the major tournaments of the ATP Tour.

Speaking of big: There have been a few big finals at Wimbledon in recent years, especially since the days of thunderstorms in the 1990s were over. What were the best five finals since 2006?

A small, subjective ranking ...

5th place: Federer - Nadal 2007 - 7: 6 (7), 4: 6, 7: 6 (3), 2: 6, 6: 2

Roger Federer was the Wimbledon king par excellence and has been unbeaten since 2003. But Rafael Nadal saw the maestro's chair, without success, despite early chances in the fifth set.

4th place: Federer - Roddick 2009 - 5: 7, 7: 6 (6), 7: 6 (5), 3: 6, 16:14

Federer set out to break Pete Sampras' Grand Slam record after winning in Paris weeks earlier. Bitter for Roddick: He missed a huge chance to lead the set 2-0 in the second round ...

3rd place: Murray - Djokovic 2013 - 6: 4, 7: 5, 6: 4

77 years after Fred Perry, the time had finally come: Andy Murray was crowned British champ on the holy lawn, after four major defeats before.

2nd place: Djokovic - Federer 2019 - 7: 6 (5), 1: 6, 7: 6 (5), 4: 6, 13:12 (3)

The last finale - and one of the most blatant ever. Federer first caught a break in the fifth round, then managed one himself to make it 8: 7, but did not use two match points. In the end, Federer was the better player in almost all the balance sheets, but the Djoker triumphed, who won all tiebreaks.

1st place: Nadal - Federer 2008 - 6: 4, 6: 4, 6: 7 (5), 6: 7 (8), 9: 7

Perhaps the best tennis match in history! Federer fended off a matchall with a brutal longline backhand in set four and forced a fifth set, where Nadal won his first Wimbledon title in almost unplayable, almost dark lighting conditions.

Will there be another final for the ages this year? From 3 p.m. you will be there live on Sky. The best: Sky has already secured the Wimbledon rights for 2022!
