Spent day for the German tennis women: In the first round matches in the qualification for Wimbledon on Tuesday, there was only one win out of six matches. Nastasja Schunk drove this one. The 18-year-old defeated Miriam Kolodziejova 6-1 and 6-4. The German now meets Jessica Pieri from Italy.
For the remaining five DTB women, there were defeats on Tuesday. Antonia Lottner was beaten by Christiana Ferrando 6:4, 1:6 and 1:6. Anna-Lena Friedsam lost 6-3 and 6-3 against Katie Volynets. Eva Lys also failed 6: 3, 3: 6 and 2: 6 at Despina Papamichail.
However, there were clearer defeats for Stephanie Wagner and Katharina Gerlach. Wagner suffered a 5:7 and 2:6 defeat against Mai Hontama. Gerlach had nothing to oppose Timea Babos in their 1:6 and 1:6 defeat.
