Halep didn't even need an hour to get Spain, fourth in the world rankings, out of the tournament. She had 17 winners in the final statistics with only 9 unneeded mistakes; Badosa made just 7 winning shots with 21 unforced errors.

Impressive was how Halep absorbed Badosa's high pace time and time again; However, when she took the pressure off, Halep built up cleanly. She is in the round of eight, so far without losing a set at the Wimbledon tournament in 2022.

Rather, Halep has been unbeaten at Wimbledon for eleven games: in 2019 she defeated Serena Williams in the final, and in 2020 the tournament was canceled due to the corona pandemic. And in 2021 Halep was injured. If she keeps the current form, the only way to go will be through her.

Or does Amanda Anisimova have something against it? The American ended Harmony Tan's summer fairy tale, beating the Serena Williams conqueror 6-2, 6-3.

Already at noon Elena Rybakina was the first player to reach the quarterfinals after beating Petra Martic 7:5, 6:3. She meets Ajla Tomljanovic, who beat Alizé Cornet 4: 6, 6: 4 and 6: 3 and thus gave the French a second major quarterfinal in 2022 (and ever).
