Bencic and Sakkari worked for 3:07 hours at the Staeffi Graf Stadium in well over 30 degrees Celsius. In the end, the Swiss Olympic champion, the player with stronger nerves, prevailed: while Sakkari was unable to use several break opportunities in the deciding set, Bencic struck in the tenth game of the third set.
