From June 12th to 20th, 2021 the premiere of the bett1 Open will take place in the Steffi-Graf-Stadium of the LTTC "Rot Weiss" eV Berlin. Since the former clay court tennis tournament of the WTA Tour was held in Berlin for the first time in 1979, well-known German tennis players have been able to enter the list of winners until 2008. With the support of Chancellor Angela Merkel as patron and Sigmar Gabriel as tournament ambassador, the German capital once again welcomes the world's top women's tennis this year. FILA acts as the main outfitter of the tournament, which receives up to 500 spectators daily under an approved hygiene concept.

"After the tournament was canceled last year, we are now very much looking forward to the first staging and are very proud to be able to act as sponsor. It is very nice to be able to welcome such a lawn tournament back to the federal capital after 2008. This is not only beneficial tennis in Berlin, but throughout Europe and beyond. Despite the absence of Ash Barty, we hope that the other FILA athletes will do well, "says Christoph Schachtner, FILA Europe brand coordinator

This year, Karolina Pliskova, a top ten player from the FILA team, will take part in the tournament. Ash Barty had to cancel her participation due to a hip injury sustained at the French Open. With her, FILA was able to announce the contract extension in February. FILA has been sponsoring the Australian since 2016 and has accompanied her on her way to the top of the world rankings right from the start. After a year break, Barty was able to start the 2021 season with three tournament wins.

About FILA:

For over half a century FILA has been accompanying exceptional and successful athletes - those who bravely challenge limits and defy all expectations. From humble textile beginnings in Biella, Italy in 1911 to the historic introduction of color on the tennis court in 1973, FILA prides itself on designs that are as unique as the ones they wear. With a philosophy that is committed to innovation and quality, FILA ceaselessly makes a statement with styles that are original in terms of aesthetics and at the same time effective in function.
