Ons Jabeur has now won the second title of the 2022 season after her triumph in Madrid: The Tunisian led in the final of the WTA Tour 500 tournament in Berlin against Belinda Bencic 6: 3 and 2: 1 when the Swiss due to an ankle injury couldn't play anymore. In the semifinals, Bencic stood on the court for a total of 3:07 hours against Maria Sakkari and asserted himself in three sets.

For Jabeur, who will compete not only in singles but also in doubles alongside Serena Williams next week in Eastbourne, it was the third tournament win of her career. This means that she will be among the top three players in the world for the first time on Monday - behind the outstanding Iga Swiatek and Anett Kontaveit, who is currently suffering from the after-effects of a corona disease.

The doubles title in Berlin went to Katerina Siniakova and Storm Sanders, who won the final against Alizé Cornet and Jil Teichmann 6:4 and 6:3.
