WTA: Cori Gauff is also coming to Berlin

After Naomi Osaka ,Cori Gauff , another powerful player, has confirmed her participation in the WTA Tour 500 tournament at the LTTC "Rot-Weiss" Berlin from June 11th to 19th, 2022.

She's only 18 years old, but the eyes of the tennis world are on her: Coco Gauff. Since she qualified for Wimbledon in 2015 at the age of 15 years and 106 days as the youngest player of the Open era, the US teenager has been one of the most fascinating athletes in the world. Of course, because she is believed to be capable of great victories and great triumphs. But also because, despite her youth, she is a personality who thinks far beyond the box of sport.

Now she has confirmed her participation in the bett1open. At the WTA tournament on the spectacularly beautiful facility of the LTTC "Red-White"the best players in the world compete in Berlin. From June 11th to 19th, in addition to tournament victory and valuable world ranking points, a total prize money of 823,000 US dollars is at stake.

Gauff is defeated by Swiatek in Miami

Naomi Osaka and Andrea Petkovic have already confirmed. Top tennis is guaranteed. But the capital tournament also sees itself as a platform to make the world a little better in these difficult times. This coincides with Coco Gauff's wishes: "I am really looking forward to my participationin Berlin." And she hopes that she can be an inspiration for young people with her play and appearance: "As a public person, I see it as my responsibility to be a role model - for other young girls who - like me - want to fulfill big dreams. It is important to me to give something back and use my platform for good.”

Gauff is currently ranked 15th in the WTA world rankings. Most recently in Miami, the teenager reached the third round, but had to admit defeat to Iga Swiatek, who was currently outstanding. In her still short career, Cori Gauff has already celebrated two tournament victories: The premiere was in Linz in 2019, and last season she managed the second coup in Parma.
