For Anett Kontaveit, things are still going like clockwork: the 25-year-old, who, thanks to two tournament victories in Moscow and Cluj-Napoca, made the leap to the WTA finals at the last minute, celebrated an opening success over the reigning French in Guadalajara -Open winner Barbora Krejcikova.

Kontaveit gave her Czech opponent no chance at the Estadio Tenis Akron and was not confronted with a single breakball during the entire course of the match. After 75 minutes, the world number eight converted their first match point to a 6: 3 and 6: 4 success.

Thus Kontaveit made a dream start in the Teotihuacán group. On Friday she will compete against the winner of the duel between Karolina Pliskova and Garbine Muguruza. This duel takes place on Thursday night (not before 2:30 a.m.).

In the Chichen Itza group, Iga Swiatek and Maria Sakkari will give the starting signal on Thursday evening. On the night of Friday, the top seeded Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa will then meet.
