Due to rain, the first attempt at the match the day before had to be abandoned when Swiatek was 2-1 with Sabalenka's serve game at 30:30. When the game resumed, the Pole took advantage of the Belarusian's cold start and immediately got the break with the first two points, which carried her through to winning the first round. In the second set, the 22-year-old Swiatek, who was clearly ahead in favor of the Mexican audience, was able to take the serve from her 25-year-old opponent and followed up with another serve as the round progressed. With a serve winner, the Warsaw woman secured the 6:3, 6:2 success after 70 minutes.

In the final, the No. 2 seed will face the fifth-ranked American Jessica Pegula, who won yesterday's semi-final against her compatriot Coco Gauff 6:2, 6:1.
