Rebecca Peterson didn't have much to oppose the top seeded Anett Kontaveit on Wednesday evening at Hamburg's Rothenbaum. In the end, the top seeded Estonian only let her Swedish opponent win five games to secure an unchallenged 6: 3 and 6: 2 success in the second round of the WTA 250 event.
In the quarter-finals, Kontaveit now meets local hero Andrea Petkovic. The German showed herself to be in an excellent mood to play against Misaki Doi on Tuesday and won safely in two sets. In round one, Petkovic had the upper hand in a purely German duel with Tamara Korpatsch.
Also in the round of the last eight in the Hanseatic city is the fourth seeded Russian Aliaksandra Sasnovich. The world number 35. did not show any weakness against Aleksandra Krunic and fixed her quarter-final duel with Maryna Zanevska.
