The 27-year-old won the final against world number two Anett Kontaveit (Estonia) 6:2, 6:4. Last Sunday she celebrated the first tournament victory of her career in Budapest/Hungary.

Kontaveit (26) missed her seventh WTA title in the second tournament alongside German coach Torben Beltz, who once led Angelique Kerber (Kiel) to two Grand Slam triumphs. At Wimbledon, she last beat Pera in the first round before she was eliminated by the tournament surprise Jule Niemeier from Dortmund.

Niemeier and Co. failed early on

For the German players, the clay court tournament in Hamburg, endowed with 251,750 euros, ended early. Niemeier lost in the first round, last year's finalist Andrea Petkovic (Darmstadt) gave up in the quarterfinals against Kontaveit with a score of 0:6, 0:2 due to an adductor injury.

Pera, on the other hand, continued her triumphal march. In Budapest, the left-hander stormed out of qualifying for the title, and in Hamburg she didn't drop a single set either and will climb towards the top 50 in the world rankings from Monday. Pera, who had never reached a final on the WTA tour before, has now , accumulated twelve wins in a row.
