"Due to the fact that the past few weeks have been very intense for me and I've lost a lot of grains, I don't come here with the claim of winning the tournament," said the 22-year-old from Dortmund: "Even though I was here in the Bundesliga last year played in the semifinals."
The German hopeful is favored in her first round duel against the Swiss Joanne Zuger and receives more attention than before her strong run on the grass classic. At Wimbledon she narrowly failed in the German duel against Tatjana Maria.
She didn't have much time to process afterwards, said Niemeier, who also recently reached the top eight at the tournament in Lausanne. "I'm trying to take the momentum with me now and not worry about anything," said the powerful player: "I hope I can do even better next year or at other Grand Slams."
