Admittedly, if the number 42 in the world goes into a WTA tournament as a favorite, then the cast can't be too good. But Bianca Andreescu will certainly not care if she actually wins the title in Hua Hin on Sunday. It would be the first championship for the Canadian since her triumph at the US Open in 2019. Since then, injuries and comeback attempts by 22-year-old Andreescu have alternated with unsightly regularity.

In Hua Hin she has presented herself in strong form so far. Andreescu won against Marta Kostyauk 6:0 and 7:6 (3) and will play against Lesia Tsurenko in tomorrow's semi-final. The Ukrainian had no problems in the 6: 1 and 6: 1 against Tatjana Maria.

The second match of the semi-finals in singles will be contested by two Chinese women who are successful together in doubles: Lin Zhu and Xinyu Wang. Zhu won her quarterfinals against Tamara Zidansek 6:2 and 6:2, Wang prevailed in an exciting match against Heather Watson with 63, 6:7 /6( and 6:4.
