According to media reports: US Open will probably take place

If you can trust US media reports, the US Open will take place on the scheduled date beginning August 31, 2020. All that is missing is the approval of the authorities, reports the Reuters agency.

Forbes magazine is cited in the Reuters report that the player unions ATP and WTA would agree to USTA's plans. The plan could include a four-week tournament series, starting in Washington (ATP only), followed by Cincinnati and just the US Open. The only thing left is the positive decision of the local and state health authorities.

"We are following every step in the restart process in the hope that we can soon announce that the US Open 2020 will take place on a regular basis," said Chris Widmaier, spokesman for the hosting association, to ESPN. "We hope to be able to make a statement soon."
