Good news for all fans of Eugenie Bouchard : The 27-year-old returned to the tennis court on Monday after a long injury break. "The first ball that I hit in 8 months! The day is finally here! I can not believe it," wrote the Canadian on Instagram.

Bouchard tore the subscapularis (strongest internal rotator of the shoulder joint) at the WTA 250 tournament in Guadalajara in March and first tried to bring the problems under control without intervention. In the end, however, she had to undergo an operation in June.

Her last match to date, Bouchard played at the 250cc event in Monterrey, which took place immediately after the tournament in Guadalajara. The 2014 Wimbledon finalist is now only 251 in the world rankings.

It is not yet clear when Bouchard will return to the match court. The Australian Open is definitely too early for the Canadian.
