Angelique Kerber put a negative corona test

Tennis professional Angelique Kerber can most likely play her second preparatory match for the Australian Open (from February 8th) in Melbourne on Friday. After the corona case in an employee of a player hotel, the 33-year-old woman from Kiel tested negative, her management informed SID.

Kerber had spent her strict quarantine in the affected Grand Hyatt Hotel, but had moved to new accommodation on January 29 after the end of the 14-day isolation.

No further corona case so far

520 tennis professionals, officials and employees had to be isolated and tested due to the incident, and play at six tournaments in Melbourne was stopped. According to reports, no further positive case has yet been discovered, and around half of the people affected are said to have already received a negative test result.
