The Italian media reacted enthusiastically to Jannik Sinner's triumph at the Australian Open. "Sinner writes history. What beauty, what splendor, what miracle," wrote the WGazzetta dello Sport"immediately after the South Tyrolean's final triumph in Melbourne against Daniil Medvedev.

Sinner beat the Russian 3:6, 3:6, 6:4, 6:4, 6:3 and became the first Italian in 48 years to secure a Grand Slam title. For the 22-year-old, it is the next highlight of his young career after the Davis Cup triumph with Italy in November.

“Sinner made himself immortal with his triumph at the Australian Open: He went down in tennis history,” wrote Tuttosport. “Fantastico Sinner,” was the headline of La Repubblica.
