"I am looking forward to playing again at the MercedesCup in Stuttgart. I have regained confidence in the last few weeks and now I hope for successful tournaments on grass. I love to play in front of my fans in Germany, ”Zverev is quoted in a broadcast.

Tournament director Edwin Weindorfer provided the reigning ATP finals champion with a "last minute wildcard" at the event, which is endowed with 754,540 euros. As a result, the younger of the Zverev brothers is back in Stuttgart for the first time since 2015.

“We are very happy that Alexander Zverev will celebrate his comeback at the Weissenhof at this year's MercedesCup. With the start of the German number one, the excellently staffed tournament will be extremely enhanced once again. His appearance is a real milestone for our tournament, ”said Weindorfer.

Alexander Zverev doesn't take a break

Zverev has played eight clay court tournaments without a week's break since the beginning of April. He also competed in smaller tournaments such as Marrakech (2nd round), Munich (quarter-finals) and Geneva (tournament victory). In addition, he suffered first-round defeats in Barcelona and Rome, but lost early in Monte Carlo (round of 16) and Madrid (quarter-final).

Zverev has won eleven tournaments in his career, but is still missing a title on grass. He reached the final two times in Halle. In the current season Zverev has a match record of 23-11 wins.
