Struff is continuing his extremely strong season in 2023: After the huge success at the Masters tournament in Madrid, he is in his second final in 2023 - and his third ever. After years of often being over in the semi-finals. /

Struff got off to a false start and gave up his serve right at the beginning - after a moment of shock on the part of Hubert Hurkacz, who slipped away but was able to continue playing. Struff still seemed briefly irritated and fabricated a double fault for the break for the man from Poland. Who didn't burn anything on his own serve.

Struff stays tuned - and finally breaks

It went like that for a long time in the second set, until Struff got his first break chance, Hurkacz attacked too cautiously and Struff came up with a strong forehand pass ball. And played through confidently to equalize the set.

In the decision, "Struffi" finally managed the decisive break to 3:1, and in the end a second one to win.

Struff now against Tiafoe: "I'll give everything!"

"The mood is world class, full house again," Struff was happy to talk to Servus TV about the support from the ranks. "I'm really looking forward to tomorrow and I'll give everything." Struff meets Frances Tiafoe in the final on Sunday.

"It's difficult to play against him. He serves so well, there are few chances. He hits one ace after the other," Struff analyzed the match against Hurkacz. "Then he played a little loose for a point or two. It was important that I stuck with it."

By the way, Struff won in front of tennis legend Boris Becker. "Great lawn tennis," complimented the three-time Wimbledon champ. "You have to stay in the tunnel" was Becker's tip to "Struffi".

The final on Sunday begins at 3:30 p.m.

Krawietz/Pütz also in the final

Before Struff's victory, two other Germans had also reached the final: Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz won 7: 6 (6), 6: 7 (12), 10: 4 against Rohan Bopanna / Matthew Ebden. The final is here at 12 noon against Nikola Metic/Mate Pavic.
