Australian tennis star Ashleigh Barty, who retired in March, is changing racquets, fueling the rumor mill. The 25-year-old, who unexpectedly retired as world number one last month, will play in a golf show tournament in the United States in June. Star football coach Pep Guardiola, record Olympic champion Michael Phelps and ex-boxing champion Oscar "Golden Boy" de la Hoya are also part of the party.
It is not unlikely that Barty is aiming for a golf career in the future. She hinted at her talent in September 2020 when she won the women's title at Brookwater Golf Club near Brisbane. Barty has also shown her skills in cricket.
"It's such a great opportunity to compete against such greats in the sport," Barty said ahead of the event at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey. There, 28 participants in the USA and Rest of the World teams will start. They are coached by former major winners Fred Couples and Ernie Els.
