Ashleigh Barty defends Queensland golf title

Barely two weeks after her retirement, Ash Barty is returning to winning ways, albeit off the tennis court. The former number 1 won the golf tournament at Brookwater Golf and Country Club - and not for the first time.

On March 23, Simona Halep joked via Twitter in her reaction to Barty's resignation: "What's next? Grand Slam Champion in golf?” Yes, it has long been no secret that the 25-year-old was not only interested in tennis. There is no other way to explain her successful cricket break. "I love sport. I've always been an athlete in the sense of trying different things. But we'll see how it goes," Barty said as part of her resignation.

30 dollars in prize money – nothing more

Barty is - I'm sure everyone can agree - exceptionally talented. We fondly remember that backhand slice that was so beautiful to look at. Apparently, with the right technique, golf is also more than good. So good, in fact, that Barty recently successfully defended her title at the Brookwater Golf and Country Club tournament. And by the way: Barty received 30 Australian dollars in prize money for the win, which is still a bit away from the wages for winning the Australian Open earlier this year (approx. 2.8 million dollars). But we know that's secondary to Ash Barty anyway.
