The fourth edition of the ATP Challenger tournament in Biella could lead to a purely German final: Both Matthias Bachinger and Daniel Masur are in the semifinals and could fix a black, red and gold final with one more victory each.
Bachinger, who had prevailed against Andreas Seppi in the previous round, benefited from a task by his Austrian opponent Sebastian Ofner in his quarter-finals. After the contested first set, which the German had won in the tiebreak, Ofner had to give up at the beginning of the second set - apparently plagued by back problems. In the semifinals, Bachinger meets Benjamin Bonzi.
Masur beat Sergiy Stakhovsky 7: 6 (3) and 6: 4 in the round of eight. In the semifinals he will now face Illya Marchenko, who won the first tournament in Biella .
