The wait is over, finally the 2020 tennis season can really start. And the spectators don't have to wait long for the first big highlights, on the contrary: On the first day of the ATP Cup, Denis Shapovalov and Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev and Fabio Fognini, among others, duel.

But Australian fans also get their money's worth early. The host will meet Germany from 8:30 a.m.CET and in the group F duel will have a chance of winning. "When they go out and play what they showed, I believe in them in every match," said team captain Lleyton Hewitt.

Kyrgios tip the scales?

For the Australians, a lot will depend primarily on Nick Kyrgios. Should the 24-year-old, on whose initiative appeals for donations for the victims of the devastating bush fires, unpack his best tennis in Brisbane, it should also be extremely difficult for the German team.

Kyrgios will open the international match against Jan-Lennard Struff, followed by the duel between the two top players: Alex de Minaur challenges Alexander Zverev. "It's not easy against him because he doesn't give you much. I will know exactly where I am after the match," said Zverev.

The country comparison is decided by the match between Kevin Krawietz / Andreas Mies and John Peers / Chris Guccione. Due to the more than narrow starting position, it seems more than likely that the decision will only be made in this match . It remains to be seen whether this will actually be the case. The tennis fans have got used to the waiting anyway.
