ATP Cup: Hubert Hurkacz and Dan Evans set at Australian Open
With great potential for discussion, the ATP introduced bonus points for the first time held ATP Cup depending on the world ranking position of the opponent . As a result, Dan Evans and Hubert Hurkacz, among others, earned a lot of points - and are rewarded with a placement at the Australian Open.

Evans celebrated three victories in one defeat and was credited with a whopping 215 points for his appearances in Sydney, making eleven places in the ATP ranking good. This means that he will be close to the top 30 next Monday - due to the cancellations by Lucas Pouille and Kei Nishikori, he is sure to settle in Melbourne.
Evans entered the tournament as ATP number 42 and British number one after Andy Murray (with his Protected Ranking) canceled. He beat David Goffin, Radu Albot and Alex De Minaur, only Grigor Dimitrov had to bow in three sets.
"These are decent victories and world-class performances," said Tim Henman, the British ATP Cup captain. "Dan has many options: slice, change of pace, serve and volley. His tennis and physical abilities are there. It's a mental challenge to show this often."
Hurkacz benefits - Bautista Agut remains "unrewarded"
Hurkacz, Poland's number one, was spotless in the group stage. On matchday one he wrestled Diego Schwartzman in three sets before he beat Borna Coric and finally forced Dominic Thiem to his knees in the tiebreak of the third set.
For that he gets 190 points, on the tour you would only get the same number of points after three matches in special cases. The 22-year-old will also scratch the top 30 and make an important leap in the relevant ranking for the seed list at the Australian Open. "It was an honor and a lot of fun," said Hurkacz on Instagram about his appearances.
The case of Roberto Bautista Agut shows that there is another way. The Spanish number two won all four matches - without losing a set - but only got 80 points. He did not play a single game against a player from the top 100.
Bonus points: curse or blessing?
The system of bonus points is also a topic of conversation at Quiet, please! , the official podcast from tennisnet. Christopher Kas and Alex Antonitsch discuss whether the system makes sense and who the winners and losers are.
