Andrey Rublev and the 500 tournaments on the ATP tour - this love story over the last ten months could have another chapter. Because Rublev is only one match away from entering his name on the list of winners of the ATP Tour 500 tournament in HalleWestfalen. After the 6: 1, 3: 6 and 6: 2 against Nikoloz Basilashvili, Rublev will play either against Félix Auger-Aliassime or Ugo Humbert on Sunday.

The first set went by in a flash, Basilashvili not only struggled with the heat, but also with problems in his right thigh. Not much of that was to be seen in round two, the Georgian, who often trains in HalleWestfalen (even if not on the grass pitches that are only prepared for the ATP tournament), managed to equalize the set.

In the decision it was Rublev, the last seeded player in the tableau, who made the first break. And who found three match points when the score was 5: 2 and Basilashvili served. But this could not use. With his own service, Rublev ended the game after a playing time of 1:51 hours. In the final, the Muscovite is about to win his second title in 2021, Rublev had already struck in Rotterdam.
