ATP Halle: Roger Federer celebrates opening success over Ilya Ivashka

After his retirement in Roland Garros, Roger Federer went on to the ATP 500 lawn event in Halle / Westphalia. The 39-year-old usually feels right at home in the German city near Bielefeld, but at the start of this year's edition against Ilya Ivashka, the ten-time title holder had to fight hard.
In the first set, Federer won four points less than his opponent, but he was still able to win the round thanks to a solid tie break. In the second section, the 20-time Grand Slam winner also struggled for a long time, but at the crucial moment he struck and thus secured the 7: 6 (4) and 7: 5 success.
In the second round, Federer meets Felix Auger-Aliassime or Hubert Hurkacz.
Goffin and Altmaier retired
However, David Goffin and Daniel Altmaier are eliminated. The Belgian had to give up after a fall in the second section before the start of the third set against Corentin Moutet, the wildcard starter from Kempen lost against Jordan Thompson 6: 7 (4) and 2: 6.
