Humbert beat Andrey Rublev 6: 3, 7: 6 (4) in the final and won his third title on the ATP Tour - and his first at the 500 level. "It's the best win of my career," said Humbert after the match. m

After the premier winner Henri Leconte (1993), he is the second player from France to win in Halle.

Humbert had won on his way to the final against Sam Querrey, Alexander Zverev, Sebastian Korda and Felix Auger-Aliassime, against all of them in just three sets. The final, of all things, was his only two-set victory.

In the coming week, Humbert will take his best place to date in 25th place.

Kevin Krawietz had previously struck in doubles. At the side of Horia Tecau he won against Hubert Hurkacz / Felix Auger-Aliassime 7: 6 (4), 6: 4.
