At first glance, it was of course a bitter pill that Felix Auger-Aliassime had to swallow last weekend: the semi-final defeat at the ATP 250 event in s'Hertogenbosch against Tim van Rijthoven. The day after, however, with his clear final victory over Daniil Medvedev, he quickly underlined that he had had a really great week.
In any case, Felix Auger-Aliassime has recovered well from this setback: After back-to-back successes over Americans at the ATP 500 event in Halle / Westphalia, the youngster is in the semi-finals. The 21-year-old defeated Mackenzie McDonald 7: 6 (7) and 6: 2 after a hard-fought opening set.
Auger-Aliassime vs. Hurkacz
In the quarter-finals, the Canadian will now meet Hubert Hurkacz, who was able to reach the semi-finals in Wimbledon last year. Felix Auger-Aliassime failed in the quarter-finals to Matteo Berrettini last year. A round later, he was also supposed to take Poland's Hurkacz out of the tournament.
Also in the last eight are Nick Kyrgios and Pablo Carreno Busta. The Australian managed to surprise against number two Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, while Carreno Busta prevailed against Sebastian Korda. In Halle/Westphalia, Daniil Medvedev gets to work in top position.
