Daniil Medvedev has to wait for the first tournament win of the 2022 season. The Russian, who has been number one in the ATP world rankings again since Monday, failed in the final in HalleWestfalen, just like last Sunday in 's-Hertogenbosch. In the Netherlands, Medvedev lost to local hero Tim van Rijthoven. Hubert Hurkacz was too strong in Halle. The Pole won 6: 1 and 6: 4 and thus won the fifth title of his career.
Hurkacz and Medvedev faced each other in the final in Halle for the fifth time, the record up to that point was even. But Hurkacz came into play better from the start, it took almost half an hour before Medvedev was able to write for the first time. A few moments later, Hubert Hurkacz served confidently.
