Stefanos Tsitsipas and Nick Kyrgios are actually only meeting for the second time on the regular ATP tour - the first match was in Washington in 2019 and went to Kyrgios. In addition, the two have already played against each other in the Laver Cup 2021 in Boston (winner Tsitsipas) and a year earlier at the ATP Cup (winner Kyrgios).
In the first round in HalleWestfalen, Kyrgios was more convincing in a two-set win against Daniel Altmaier. Tsitsipas had to go the full distance against Benjamin Bonzi.
