Federico Delbonis and Hamburg - there was something, wasn't it? In fact: In 2013, the Argentine left-hander not only won against Roger Federer at Rothenbaum, but also reached the final of the traditional tournament in the Hanseatic city. Eight years later, Delbonis is only missing one more victory to start the second attempt at the trophy in Hamburg on Sunday. At the first final attempt, the now 30-year-old was stopped by Fabio Fognini.

The chances for Delbonis on the semifinals on Saturday are not bad: Because of his seven previous encounters with Pablo Carreno Busta, he was able to make five successful for himself. So also this year in Madrid, where Delbonis was able to assert himself in three sentences. There the veteran had to struggle through the qualification as well as afterwards in Rome - where he surprisingly reached the quarter-finals. And there, just as surprisingly, Reilly Opelka lost.
Federico Delbonis has already won two titles in his career, but the last was five years ago: in 2016 he was successful in Marrakech.

Carreno Busta already successful this year

Pablo Carreno Busta does not have to look back that far: The Spaniard has already celebrated a home win in Marbella this season and is number 13 in the ATP world rankings 35 places ahead of his semi-final opponent. After Stefanos Tsitsipas was eliminated by Filip Krajinovic , Carreno Busta is the best-ranked player in the field and he will have to deal with the burden of being a virtual favorite.

Whatever the final weekend for Pablo Carreno Busta, the 29-year-old from Gijon will soon see the next highlight: the Olympic Games in Tokyo. There, after the refusals of Rafael Nadal and Roberto Bautista Agut, the Spaniards' greatest hopes rest on “PCB”.

Whoever wins the betway Match of the Day between Federico Delbonis and Pablo Carreno Busta - he will play the final against a player from Serbia. Because Filip Krajinovic and Laslo Djere open the semi-final Saturday in Hamburg from 1:30 p.m.
