In the end it was 4: 6, 6: 1 and 6: 3 for the second in the world rankings, who found his rhythm after losing the first round, but also benefited from an increasing number of mistakes without the need of his opponent - there were 40 pieces at the end of the match at Korda, only 17 at Medvedev.
Especially with his own serve, Medvedev hardly allowed anything after losing the first set, and after he had left four break chances there, he was more successful in the recovery afterwards. In the end, Korda caught another break, but then gave up his service game to lose the match.
For the 21-year-old, currently number 39 in the world, a good tournament is still coming to an end; Korda had defeated both Aslan Karatsev and Marin Cilic en route to the round of 16.
Medvedev will now face the winner of the game between Carlos Alcaraz and Hugo Gaston.
Earlier in the evening, Alexander Zverev had won against Grigor Dimitrov.
