Although Novak Djokovic has lost to Kyle Edmund before, the Serb knows one thing: he can not lose to Edmund. The British lack the playful means, also physically Djokovic is compared to Edmund actually always at an advantage. Even if the man from Belgrade, as in these days in Paris Bercy, goes with a very scratchy neck on the tennis court.

And so Edmund held in the first set wonderful, even made for enthusiasm in the audience, as he was able to fend off in the twelfth game two set balls of the favorite, in the tie-break then three more. That Djokovic took the short decision nevertheless, but nobody surprised. Djokovic continued to play in a concentrated manner, entering the quarter-finals after a 7: 6 (6) and 6: 1.

Djokovic as in Shanghai against Tsitsipas

Where he meets a man against whom he can certainly lose, even in Paris: Stefanos Tsitsipas. The former canceled out Alex Theorist's extremely theoretical chances of attending the ATP Finals in London with a concentrated 6: 3 and 6: 4, the Australian can now focus on the # NextGen Masters in Milan. Tsitsipas could also compete there, but of course will compete with the adults in the O2 Arena in London.

There have been three encounters between Djokovic and Tsitsipas to date, with the Greek leading the way on two occasions. Like last time in Shanghai, as it looked for a long time, as if the world ranking leader would sail safely into the semi-final round. Tsitsipas but made the comeback, failed a round later, once again, to Daniil Medvedev. In Paris-Bercy, Djokovic will fight one more step harder: every point counts in the battle for the number one at the end of the year. Temporarily it will go to Rafael Nadal from Monday.
