Zverev led 6-0 and 3-0 in the meantime, Rublev needed eight match or break balls at all to make his first game in the entire match. /

Six of the first nine games were thoroughly competitive and went over to debut, but all with the better end for the world ranked sixth. However, Zverev was also clearly superior in terms of play and put a lot of pressure: 12 winners (with 9 mistakes without need) were in the statistics according to sentence 1, with Rublev there were only 3 (with 12 unforced mistakes).

Rublev had major problems especially on the second serve, which often ended up far too short in the field, which meant that Zverev could put pressure directly on. Rublev won only 4 out of 16 points. A first serve quota of only 43 percent does not stop, of course.

In set 2 the world ranking 33 used. then his fifth breakball to 2: 3 from his point of view, the game could possibly have tilted here, but Zverev got the new break with a determined forehand to 4: 2. Rublev then turned a 3:30 p.m. to the connection - and Zverev failed to reserve.

In a high-class tie break, Zverev then kept his nerve and used his first match ball to win with a fine backhand pass ball - with his 32nd winning stroke.

Zverev now against Roger Federer

Zverev will face Swiss record major champ Roger Federer on Friday. He had to do hard work in the 7: 6 (7), 6: 4 victory over David Goffin , had to fend off five set balls from the Belgian in the first round.

In a direct comparison of the two, it is 3: 3; most recently, Zverev won the semi-finals of the ATP Finals in London last year. There he won his greatest title with a final victory over Novak Djokovic.

The match between Zverev and Federer is scheduled for Friday from 12.30 p.m. CEST.
