However, the task for the Austrian Davis Cup doubles was also the most complicated: Marach and Melzer had to face Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in round one. The two Colombians had recently won the Grand Slam tournaments in Wimbledon and New York City. And didn't let anything burn against Marach / Melzer. Cabal / Farah won 6: 3 and 6: 3 and will meet Americans John Isner and Sam Querrey in round two. Incidentally, Juan Sebastian Cabal celebrated his 300th match win in doubles on the ATP tour.

Jan-Lennard Struff, who reached the semi-finals with Lucas Pouille in Tokyo last week, was also eliminated in his opening match. Struff had arranged to do pair runs with Fernando Verdasco this time, but the German-Spanish combo also lost 3-6 and 3-6. Against Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury.

The French Open winners Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies will only intervene on Tuesday. The two Germans will face Novak Djokovic and Filip Krajinovic in the second game after 6:30 a.m.CEST.
