Actually, the fans in the stands of TC Weißenhof had already prepared for a tiebreak in the second set between Félix Auger-Aliassime and Sam Querrey. Auger-Aliassime led 6: 5, but Querrey had to work 40: 0 on his own serve. Then, however, the Canadian made five points in a row. And celebrated his renewed entry into the final at the MercedesCup with a cry of joy. In 2019, Auger-Aliassime lost out in a close final against Matteo Berrettini.

On Sunday "FAA" will take the next attempt to win their first tournament. The 20-year-old has made it into a final on the ATP tour seven times, most recently at one of the preparatory tournaments in Melbourne at the beginning of the year. Auger-Aliassime has never been allowed to take home the winner's trophy.

In Stuttgart, Marin Cilic, the 2014 US Open winner and 2017 Wimbledon finalist, could stand in the way. Or the young Austrian Jurij Rodionov, who surprisingly refueled all the way to the half-way point.
