The field of participants for the ATP tournament from June 4th to 12th, 2022 in Stuttgart has received a top-class addition! After the three-time Grand Slam tournament winner Andy Murray , Nick Kyrgios has now also confirmed his participation in the grass event at the TC Weissenhof facility. The eccentric Australian will compete in both singles and doubles in Stuttgart. After the spectacular triumph alongside his compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis at the first Grand Slam tournament of this year in Melbourne, Kyrgios comes to the Weissenhof as the reigning Australian Open double champion .

The "enfant terrible" of the ATP tour is always one of the contenders due to its serve strength and unorthodox style of play, especially on a green background. That was also the case in Stuttgart in 2018, where in a dramatic semi-final he only had to bow to eventual tournament winner Roger Federer in the tie-break of the third set. Kyrgios already demonstrated his qualities on grass in 2014 as a 19-year-old when he reached the quarter-finals in Wimbledon. In addition to his compatriot Lleyton Hewitt, he is the only player who has won his first duel with Rafael Nadal (2014 in Wimbledon), Roger Federer (2015 in Madrid) and Novak Djokovic (2017 in Acapulco).

Tournament manager Weindorfer is looking forward to Kyrgios

"I have great memories from Stuttgart, so I'm really looking forward to coming back to the Weissenhof this year and hopefully seeing a lot of tennis fans following our matches. I hope that I will be successful and that I can play as many matches as possible in order to be well prepared for the Grand Slam in Wimbledon," emphasizes Kyrgios.

Tournament director Edwin Weindorfer also counts the 26-year-old Australian, who has six ATP individual titles, as one of the closest favorites at the Weissenhof. "Nick Kyrgios is one of the most dazzling figures and one of the biggest moves on the ATP tour, who, with his varied game and his unpredictability on the pitch, can of course be trusted in Stuttgart - and not just in singles, but also in doubles," explains Weindorfer.
