Dominic Thiem could get podium at the Australian Open 2020 in Melbourne. Dennis Novak won his second qualifying match with ease. Novak, who had no problems against German Dustin Brown in round one, won against Filip Horansky on Friday after a time of only 62 minutes with 6: 1 and 6: 4.

In the qualifying final, Austria's number two now faces Japanese Hiroki Moriya, who also won two games against Canadian Steven Diez.

And it looks good for women too. Barbara Haas, the only Austrian representative after Julia Grabher's departure, defeated Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove 6: 4, 4: 6 and 6: 1. The last hurdle for Haas will be the Belgian Greetje Minnen on Saturday.
