And could already meet last year's finalist Petra Kvitova in the quarterfinals. Julia Görges has also been drawn into the top half. She plays against Viktoria Kuzmova in round one.

Karolina Pliskova is number two. with a difficult opening task: The Czech gets to deal with Kristina Mladenovic. Angelique Kerber, on the other hand, does not know her opponent yet, she is waiting for a qualifier and could face Marketa Vondrousova in the third round.

The draw has brought with it at least two other potential hit games: first, the reunion of Cori Gauff and Venus Williams, who last played in Wimbledon. With the better end for the now 15 year old Gauff. In addition, Maria Sharapova meets Croatian Donna Vekic, who is supported by the German Torben Beltz.
