Oswald and Daniell were only 63 minutes on the court in 6: 4 and 6: 2 against Gilles Simon and Adrian Mannarino. For the two of them it is now in the second round against Dominik Koepfer and Tennys Sandgren, who surprisingly against Sander Gille and Joran Viegen from Belgium were able to prevail in the tiebreak of the third set.
Oliver Marach and Robin Haase were eliminated. The two veterans lost to Miomir Kecmanovic and Casper Ruud 3: 6, 6: 1 and 0: 6. Julian Knowle and Lloyd Harris will play against the Australian pairing Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis later on Thursday.
The top seeded Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah had big problems: The two Colombians had to go over three tight sets against André Begemann and Nikoloz Basilashvili.
