In view of the performances of the season so far, Quentin Halys is by no means an easy task for the first round of a Grand Slam tournament, it was only in Adelaide that the Frenchman forced the great Novak Djokovic into two tie-breaks, but ultimately had to lose out. Against Stefanos Tsitsipas, things were (surprisingly) clearer at the Australian Open, the Greek seeded in three won despite minor problems in the last round in three sets.

In the fourth game of the first section, Tsitsipas managed the first break, which the Greek couldn't take afterwards. The number three of the tournament certainly transported this lead to a 6:3 set win. Same game in round two, again Tsitsipas acted perfectly on his own serve, Halys hardly had anything to oppose. And also had to give up section two with a break difference.

Nadal and Norrie continue too

In the last set, Tsitsipas actually slacked off a bit - in the meantime had to give up four games in a row - and had to work hard to save himself in the tie-break after defending four set balls. In this, too, the Greek was quickly behind and was confronted with a 0:3. Tsitsipas again showed fighting qualities, played tennis worth seeing and secured the third set and thus the match in the tie-break with 7: 6 (6).

Cameron Norrie - three-set win over youngster van Assche - and Rafael Nadal with a four-set win over Jack Draper had already bought their ticket for the second round.
