How often do you get the chance to play a competitive match at Rod Laver Arena? Alina Korneeva and Mirra Andreeva, the two finalists at the juniors of the Australian Open 2023, also think so. But if this opportunity presents itself, then you should grab it. And enjoy. So the two young Russians played their entry fee down to the last Australian cent before Korneeva was congratulated on the 6:7 (4), 6:4 and 7:5 after a playing time of 3:18 hours.

Korneeva succeeds Croatian Petra Marcinkova. The list of former winners also includes names such as those of Victoria Azarenka (2005), Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (2006 and 2007) or Marta Kostyuk (2017).

In the juniors even a tie-break in the third set had to decide the new champion between the American Learner Tien and the Belgian Alexander Blockx. Blockx, who was seeded in third place, had his first two match balls at a score of 9:7, Tien defended with a powerful game. The favorite then used the third chance with a serve through the middle. Blockx won 6:1, 2:6 and 7:6 (9).

More recently, Nick Kyrgios (2013), Alexanxer Zverev (2014) and Sebastian Korda (2018) had secured the junior title.
