Andrey Rublev made it through to the round of 16 at the Australian Open thanks to a strong performance. The Russian, who had defended himself in three sets against Dominic Thiem at the start, beat Dan Evans 6: 4, 6: 2 and 6: 3 in round three.

In the round of 16, Rublev meets youngster Holger Rune. For his part, the 19-year-old prevailed against Ugo Humbert 6: 4, 6: 2 and 7: 6 (5). Thus, the Dane reached the second week of a Grand Slam tournament for the second time in his young career.

The Australian fans also had reason to celebrate. Local hero Alex de Minaur clearly defeated Benjamin Bonzi 7: 6 (0), 6: 2 and 6: 1 in the Rod Laver Arena. He now awaits the winner of the duel between Novak Djokovic and Grigor Dimitrov.
