Aryna Sabalenka was just able to prevent a third-round loss at the Australian Open against the Czech Marketa Vondrousova. The Belarusian, who had major problems with her serve in the run-up to the tournament, lost the first round, but the second in the world rankings then got into the game visibly better.

In the end, the number two of the tournament won convincingly 4:6, 6:3 and 6:1 and is thus in the round of 16. Kaia Kanepi, who defeated Australian Maddison Ingis at the start of the day in three sets, is waiting there on Monday.

Simona Halep, who is still undefeated in 2022, is also in the round of 16. The Romanian also showed a flawless performance in lap three and didn't give Danka Kovinic the slightest chance. Halep finished off the Montenegrin 6-2 and 6-1 and now meets France's Alize Cornet, who caused a small surprise against Tamara Zidansek.
